We thank God for the vision that resulted in the incorporation and opening of Beth Hark Christian Counseling Center in 1985.

It started in the late 1970’s, when the late Bishop Ezra N. Williams, Pastor Emeritus of Bethel Gospel Assembly, Inc., shared, with the church’s Executive Board, the need for a ministry that would allow a greater and more palpable expression of the love of God. It was essential to tangibly facilitate the transformation of the lives of those who had been adversely impacted by drug abuse, poverty, homelessness, unemployment, etcetera by education, equipping and empowering them. Consequently, the board began to develop the constructs of a counseling, feeding, and sheltering ministry.

That ministry, which would later become known as Beth-Hark Christian Counseling Center, Inc., was started in the wake of that vision, and in partnership with the similar vision of then young Joe Holland and his young Harlem Ark of Freedom ministry team.

More than three decades later, through the efforts of a small staff and many dedicated volunteers, including a combination of professional and lay counselors, Beth-Hark Christian Counseling Center Inc., continues to impact lives in the Harlem community and beyond. While its services have expanded and been restructured over the years, the commitment of Beth-Hark Christian Counseling Center, Inc. to “Offering Help, Healing, and Hope” has remained the same.
